As a known rapidly renewable resource, the use of bamboo may be able to help a designer or architect qualify for the LEED MR6 credit, providing that materials that are considered rapidly renewable make up 5% of total value of all new materials and products used in the project.

Further to Global Access’ commitment to the environmental responsibility and indoor air quality of our products, we are pleased to announce that we can now offer bamboo panels which are completely free of formaldehyde-based resins. This may help the user to qualify for the LEED EQ4.4 credit, since the products are free of added urea-formaldehyde.

The coating system used for our pre-finished bamboo flooring is from a German company named Treffert. Their finishes qualify for LEED credit EQ4.2 for low-emitting paints and coatings, according to representatives at Green Seal, as it contains approximately 30 g/L of VOC’s, well under the required 175 g/L.
